AARP Starts Offering Small Business Services

Helps on employee benefits front

Small business owners who could use some ideas concerning payroll services, group health insurance, and retirement planning may have a new friend in the AARP.  The organization is testing a sort of educational/outreach program called "Small Business Services."

Small Business Services aims to help organizations that big solutions providers may typically ignore.  A statement explained, "The Small Business Services benefits package includes health and disability insurance options through United Healthcare, 401(k) retirement plans from AARP Financial Inc. and payroll solutions from Intuit."

Chicago and Tampa are the only official test markets so far, but other cities may be added in time, and a website with all sorts of information (a webinar’s even scheduled for the 22nd) is available.

One other important thing to know is that small business owners don’t have to be members of the AARP to take advantage of this stuff.

Small Business Services might be worth a look if you’re interested in new payroll, insurance, and retirement ideas, and you can also always consider giving the AARP a nudge if you’d like to see the program spread.

  1. What a clever and smart idea. Small business often fail in these areas as the cost is prohibitive. By have a business service that supports these critical aspects of business, the small business will be able to focus on their core product or service.

  2. I was all set to take advantage of this, but it is now discontinued.  Guess it’s back to the old internet search for business services.
