eHealth, Inc. and the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) announced the launch of eHealth's BusinessHSA, an online health insurance platform for small businesses.Designed mainly for small businesses that cannot afford group health insurance, BusinessHSA is an online platform that allows employers to co-fund and administer their contributions to employee individual health savings accounts (HSA).
Remote Deposit For Small Business Expected To Grow

Research firm the Aite Group has released a new report that looks at the key drivers of small business adoption of remote deposit, including faster availability of funds, lower costs, greater times savings and later deadlines for deposits.The survey found that 16 percent of small business owners use remote deposit and at the end of 2009 the number is expected to rise 25 percent. The report is based on a survey of 303 U.S small businesses that generate less than $10 million in annual revenue.

Business.gov the official business link to the U.S. Government, managed by the U.S. Small Business Administration has developed a new search engine for small business owners.Users can search for information from state and local government Web sites, as well as federal Web sites, from a single search box. If a business owner types in a specific location, such as the name of a city and state the results returned will be for that geographic location. The new service improves general search services by providing results specific to doing business in a particular area.

There are a number of ways you can market your small business without spending a large sum of money.Print a small ad on a postcard and mail it to potential customers in your targeted market area. People are more likely to read a message on a postcard if it is brief. Include a discount for the next time they may need to use your business along with an expiration date to create urgency.

The percentage of the U.S. population that is starting a business is declining. Data from the Federal Reserve indicates that the percentage of American households that own a business decreased from 14.2 percent in 1983 to 11.4 percent in 2004.
