Back-To-School Shopping Season Not Over Yet

NRF thinks much more money will change hands

Believe it or not, the back-to-school season may not over.  Procrastinating shoppers probably annoyed you a month ago when you wanted to make money, but new info indicates that they could still come to the rescue and purchase a lot of stuff.

National Retail FederationA statement from the National Retail Federation released today said, "According to NRF’s latest Back-to-School/College Consumer Intentions and Actions survey, conducted by BIGresearch, the average American family had completed only 41.6 percent* of their back-to-school shopping as of August 11."

The statement then continued, "Similarly, families of college students have completed 41.0 percent of their shopping.  In addition, nearly one-third (30.5%) of families with school-aged children (K-12) haven’t even started their shopping."

Now, it’s important to note that the info’s a little out of date – a lot may have happened in the week it took the NRF and BIGresearch to compile and release the results.  But checking out whether or not school’s already started in your area should make the situation clearer.  (Just remember that some people wait to do school shopping until after they go to classes for a few days.)

Hopefully you’ll still be able to make a fair amount of money before everyone settles into their pre-Halloween routine, then.
