    I use every opportunity to ask my clients to refer me new business and it has really given great rewards, sometime I refer them clients too (as I get lot of enquiries of web design which we dont do much)

  2.  Your best chance for new customers is referrals from existing customers.  This is a valuable marketing strategy whether it is via traditional marketing or internet marketing.  Getting testimonials from existing customers is also valuable.
