Content marketing

One of the most effective tools in content marketing, is the incredible power of curiosity.

Curiosity creates action

- If you see a great link on Twitter or Facebook, which makes you curious enough, you click it.

- If you see an interesting email subject line in your inbox, which makes you curious enough, you click it.

- If you see a link from an interesting part of a blog post, which makes you curious enough, you click it.

- If you see an interesting sounding title in your feedreader, which makes you curious enough, you click it.

When you want people to take some kind of action after reading your content, you need to motivate them.  You need to inspire them to want to take the next step, to; call you, email you, buy now, click your affiliate link, subscribe to your newsletter, etc.

Many marketers make the mistake of writing LONG pages of copy, which provide so much information that the reader is left with much of their curiosity satisfied.  This is a bad move!

The more information you give, the less reason there is for the reader to feel like they need to know more.  You actually de-motivate them, which is the exact opposite of what you should be doing if you want them to take action.

Content marketing: Quick tip!

Take a look at the level of curiosity your marketing currently generates.  Review your marketing messages and the titles you use for your; blog posts, newsletters, special offers, tweets and email bulletins etc.  Now, read them from the position of a prospective client or customer.

How keen would that person be, to feel like they HAD to know more?

If the answer is “not very”, then focus on building curiosity.  Don’t worry if you are not sure how.  In future posts I will show you how to write copy, which will leave your readers begging to know more!  If you don’t want to miss it, be sure to subscribe to the blog.

Great insight. I always encourage people to keep their online marketing fun, because that is what catches the consumers eye. But creating curiosity is a good way to put it!
