Google Exposes Top 10 Analytics Myths

And Explains Why They're Myths

We talk about web analytics (and Google Analytics in particular) a lot here at SmallBusinessNewz. That’s mostly because Google is so vocal about how to use its service.

Thats’s a testament to Google’s blogging practices for one thing, but there are a lot of useful tips to come out of these blog posts that small business owners can apply to their own analytics efforts. Google’s latest post on analytics deals with common myths associated with the service. They include:

1: "You get what you pay for." Google Analytics is free, which means the system is down a lot

2: Google Analytics is basic and doesn’t have any "advanced" features or metrics

3: Google Analytics only supports third-party cookies

4: Google Analytics is not really accurate

5: It’s not possible to export your data from Google Analytics

6: With Google Analytics you can’t control your data

7: There is no professional support for Google Analytics

8: Google Analytics does not support A/B or multivariate testing and isn’t well-integrated with other tools

9: You can’t segment data in Google Analytics

10: You have to spend a lot of money to get "real" web analytics

You Can learn more about why each is a myth by visiting the post, and while you’re there you might as well explore some of their other posts. Analytics are becoming more and more important for staying ahead of the game in online marketing, and if you use Google, you should be taking advantage of the resources they provide.

It’s bound to result in higher conversion rates, and a better understanding of how your audience views your stuff.

  1. No matter how good it is, but Free is always has shortcomings vs. small fee packages. I still love this one:http://www.rtek2000.com/WebStatsAdvisor.html

Easy to use, auto-reporting, all you want to know. Free package can add only somthing like the browser type, screen resolution, etc. what has secondary value.
