Google Launches AdWords SMB Partner Program

Aimed at connecting advertisers with partners

Google announced a new partnership program for AdWords advertisers that is designed to help small and medium-sized businesses reach new customers using AdWords. It’s called the Google AdWords Premier SMB Partner Program (PSP).

The program connects what Google calls its "trusted and experienced" partners with businesses to create, manage, and optimize AdWords campaigns to help businesses reach more customers and maximize the potential of advertising budgets.

"As a small business, we know you spend a lot of valuable time trying to reach more customers," says Todd Rowe, Google’s Director of Global Channel Sales.  "Many of our advertisers build and create successful AdWords campaigns on their own, and others prefer to work with partners to get their Google advertising up and running. We think it’s important to provide you with the options that work best for your business."

"Premier SMB Partners bring to the table years of industry knowledge and meet Google’s highest standards for qualification, training, and customer service," says Rowe. "Teaming up with a PSP gives you a marketing and search engine advisor who can take the guesswork out of online advertising, to save you time and resources so you can focus on running and growing your business.

Here, Rowe points to a video about an AdWords Customer, A&D Automatic Gate & Access, which worked with a Premier SMB to find new customers with their AdWords campaign.

Google Product Management Director Richard Holden says, "Google does a lot to help SMBs reach their customers. We look at all the ad products and the organic products that  we build as providing an opportunity for SMBs to compete with the largest businesses out there. We’ve made it very ROI focused where they only pay for what they actually get – leads to their business."

"When we develop products here at Google, we definitely think about it from the end consumer and the advertiser perspective, but we also equally think about it from a partner perspective, particularly when it comes to our ad products. Some of the best innovations we’ve made in AdWords over the last ten years have been based on the feedback the partners have given us after they’ve worked with the product and worked with advertisers day in and day out with those products."

There’s another video about this, with more from Holden available here at the program’s actual site

Reasons Google gives for why to become a Premier SMB Partner include: stand out from the competition, deliver the product your customers want, and boost your business with Google support.

For advertisers, the partners provide in-depth AdWords expertise, campaign management, detailed reporting, customer support, and marketing guidance/support.

  1.  I have tried adwords on three seperate instances.  I felt lucky that I broke even as a  result!  I am always looking for ways to increase traffic and sales to my different websites.  Google adwords in a platform that you need to be an expert at inorder to compete!

  2. Running Adwords campaigns really IS rocket science.  Most of the small guys lose their shirts.  The big players can afford to take the hit of expensive clicks because they have deep pockets and look at it as a loss leader and are just buying a customer.  They then market a mirage of products to them down the line.  Most small businesses either can’t (or don’t) think this way and need to see at least $1.00 in revenue for every $1.00 in click cost in order to stay in the Adsenes game.  This is tricky to do.

  3. I think this is a good step that Google is taking to help SMBs. Before adwords was pretty basic with just PPC, but it sounds like now they are making is so SMBs do not have to pay unless it is an actual lead. Overall I am not a huge fan of online ads because there are a lot better way to gain an online presence for free.

  4. Premier SMB Partners meet Google’s highest standards and criteria for qualification, transparency, and customer service, which includes completing extensive Google product and account management training.
