Google Launches “Learn with Google” Site for Small Businesses

New business resource from Google

Google has launched a new site called Learn with Google, which it positions as a way for you to learn ways to help you grow your business online.

"Many of you have been looking for one central place to go to get smart about online tools and strategies, and we hear you," says Barbara Young, Product Manager on Google’s Small Business Team.

"Whether you’re looking to grow your business or just be more productive, we hope that this collection of short videos, handouts, and resources will arm you with best practices and tips that you can use right away," she says.

There are sections for Starting a business online, marketing a business online and running a business online. In each sections you’ll find videos, worksheets and downloads on various topics.

For example, in the first one, you’ll find videos on why it matters to be online, devising an online marketing plan and local marketing. In the worksheets and downloads section, there are things like building your online marketing plan, reaching local customers with Google Places and online marketing vocabulary.

There are resources for if you’re a new advertiser, an experienced advertiser, a publisher or an agency, and you can find resources by ad type, products (AdWords, Adsense, Analytics, etc.), related brands and  other misc. resources like Ad Innovations,. the Inside AdWords blog, etc.

There are quite a few videos and worksheets in the Marketing section, covering things like AdWords fundamentals, AdWords tips, getting to know your account, online marketing fundamentals, and other products and features.

The Running a Business Online section focuses more on running a business using Google Apps.

  1. Google teamed up with the Citizens Advice Bureau on this campaign, where the two organizations are using newspaper ads, ads on public transport and online ads to promote the initiative.

  2. I just found this article and the link to the Learn with Google will be very helpful.  As always great article Chris.

  3. Sure, small business sites could take the help from Google and this effort is quite appreciable to Google.

  4. However, what we have learned is most small and medium sized businesses don’t have the time to learn internet marketing or building a Wordpress site and would rather hire experts like us to handle it for them.

  5. This is an another good information source by Google for small businesses. We also recommend reading their offical blogs on individual topics to stay upto date with the changes and new inventions. Cheers

  6. As always, Google ahead of the rest. Its services are impressive. I love this company. Thanks for the article.

This is a great tool for small businesses to bring their business online. I think it will help a lot of small businesses expand their marketing efforts and get a higher ROI. I have not checked out “Learning with Google” yet but I having a feeling that it will provide the basic steps that companies will need to start an online presence. They will still need other service to help manage that on-line presence.

  8. As usual, this is another great business resource for anyone doing or hoping to do business online. Though i must say it is biased towards Google products.

  9. The Think Insights part is worthing of reading.
