Google Optimizes Place Pages for Mobile

Android/iPhone Users Can Access Mobile Version

This week Google announced that it has launched mobile versions of Place Pages, which the company has been developing since the announcement of Place Pages last fall.

The pages show location information, customer ratings, opening hours and what people are saying about the business in summary format. Google provides the following video for a restaurant’s Page, demonstrating:

"To get more details on opening hours or on customer specific comments related to the food, service or ambiance, simply click on those respective sections to show more information instantly," explains Google. "The Place Page also provides links to useful websites where the user can read full reviews about the place. Lastly, if address and cross street information is not enough, click on the map button and you will be taken to a full screen dynamic map which is pannable and zoomable. In this way you can quickly see the restaurant’s location in the context of the entire neighborhood.”

To utilize Place Pages for mobile, customers need only go to Google.com from their phone’s browser and search for the business. Then on the results page, they can click the listing and get to the Place Page. Right now, the mobile Place Pages are only available on Android devices and iPhones/iPod Touches in the U.S.

  1. They’re quite similar to what you’re used to seeing in Google Maps, with business/place information, a collection of reviews, images, and so forth.
