LinkedIn Presents “Timeless Guide To Small Business Success”

Silly videos, real answers

Anyone who wants to kill some time today should, to be honest, download Radiohead’s new album and give it a listen.  But any small business owners who want to kill some time and remain relatively on-task might want to give "LinkedIn’s Timeless Guide to Small Business Success" a look.

The Guide is a series of video clips (there are six so far) designed with small and medium-sized businesses in mind.  It was made by Rob Getzschman, a member of the Upright Citizen’s Brigade (and a LinkedIn employee), and received support from FedEx.

The first clip covers "You and Your Company."  Then, sticking to the "You and Your" title format, the other videos touch on customers, teams, reputations, funding, and partners.

The key is that these aren’t supposed to be as dull as the usual business-oriented instructional video.  Getzschman wrote on the LinkedIn Blog, "Knowing that the average office worker can only watch a screenshot tutorial for a few seconds before the onset of spontaneous narcolepsy, we developed a fun, retro-themed webseries. . ."

Reactions have been fairly positive so far.  Don’t expect to see Arrested Development- or Mr. Bean-quality comedic writing and acting, but the clips should be better than reviewing tax forms for the hundredth time.

We might even recommend watching the clips instead of listening to Radiohead, for that matter, if the only speakers available to you right now are of the built-into-the-monitor variety.  Better to let Radiohead wait until something that sounds nice is on hand.
