National Enterprise Awards Winners Announced

Five businesses and one person honored

In a ceremony that we’re pleased to report was not interrupted by a microphone-grabbing rapper, the winners of the National Enterprise Awards were named this week.  The award categories spanned Best Website, Combating Worklessness, Customer Focus, Innovation, Unsung Hero, and Corporate Partnership.

NFEAEnterprise First came out on top in the website category.  It recently redesigned its site, and the makeover supposedly led to an immediate uptick in business.  You can view the Enterprise First site here if you’re in the mood to collect ideas.

Furness Enterprise, meanwhile, was said to have done the best job in terms of combating worklessness.  Furness runs a community-based program of some sort that’s tied to a region’s industrial decline.

Northern Pinetree Trust nabbed the customer focus award.  Its decision to cater to the disabled won over the judge panel.  Business Insight then won the innovation award with an online tool available through its website.

Shelagh Barton, a business adviser with TEDCO, was declared the unsung hero, so hopefully she’ll receive more recognition in the future.  Finally, ICONI Software won the corporate partnership award because it’s been of great help to many NFEA members.

Congratulations to all of the winners, and better luck to everybody else next year.
