NFIB Publishes Quotes Critical Of Healthcare Reform

Small biz owners talk costs, layoffs, closures

The National Federation of Independent Business (or at least the small business owners whose quotes it chose to publicize) remains a critic of some healthcare reform ideas.  A recent statement described some ways in which their implementation might be disastrous.

NFIBThe press release consisted of little more than anonymous small business owners’ quotes.  There were 15 of them, all in all, and assuming they came from different people, they represent a protest of reasonable size.  You’ll see that they represent a rather passionate protest, too.

Several small business owners spoke about unmanageable costs.  According to the NFIB, one also said, "We are already fighting day in and [sic] day out to survive in this present economic situation.  If you force us to have to pay for medical insurance when we have had lay-offs [and] cut expenses back as far as we can, we would probably not be able to keep our doors open."

Another added, "Mandates are ineffective, this bill deprives me of my rights to determine how to use my resources, and it harms small business and their employees – the very groups it is supposed to help."

So there are a couple more opinions on the issue.  We’ll keep you updated if any events unfold.
