PR Newswire Launches New PR Tool Collection for Small Businesses

New Resource for Making Better Press Releases

Press release distribution service PR Newswire has announced the launch of a new small business communications site and "newly enhanced" PR tools for small businesses.

The company calls this a comprehensive resource that provides small businesses and entrepreneurs the tools to develop an affordable public relations plan, increase search rankings, generate interest from potential customers, and engage with key audiences to help grow their businesses.

“For nearly ten years, the PR Toolkit has been helping small business owners amplify their PR initiatives by affording them the education and tools to promote their products and services, drive traffic to their Web sites and facilitate dynamic communication with the media and their consumers,” said Michael Crumley, manager, Strategic Channels, PR Newswire. “We redesigned the site to give a more intuitive user experience and easier access to the information that small businesses need to drive growth.”

The site comes equipped with content such as white papers, interactive webinars, and how-to articles. Users will also have access to educational resources like demos on how to optimize content, as well as other tips and advice on things like constructing effective press releases.

As I’ve written about in the past, press releases can actually be great for search. If for no other reason, journalists use search more than any other activity on the web. A study from Arketi Group a while back found that journalists were using the web in the following ways:

- 95% search

- 92% reading news

- 92% emailing

- 89% finding story ideas

- 87% finding news sources

- 75% reading blogs

- 64% watching webinars

- 61% watching YouTube

- 59% social networks

There are also ways to get more Twitter value from press releases, beyond just tweeting links to them. WebProNews spoke with Lisa Buyer of the Buyer Group about that a few months back.
