Privacy Policy Option For Small Businesses Announced

TRUSTe unveils new solution

The average small business customer may not give much thought to privacy when dealing with a firm.  Or the customer may even feel he or she’s safer than usual, since a human being, and not some error-prone system, is more likely to handle info.  Still, there’s a new privacy-related offering for small businesses that might be interested in such things.

A note: this isn’t some ill-conceived scam that involves business owners buying seals of approval no one’s ever seen or heard of.  One of the companies behind the initiative (TRUSTe) has worked with AOL, eBay, Facebook, and Microsoft, along with more than a few other important organizations.

So on to the actual news.  According to an official statement, TRUSTe and eNom "announced a partnership to distribute a TRUSTe-powered Privacy Policy, a new and affordable online privacy solution developed specifically for small businesses."

Then the statement continued, "eNom will make the TRUSTe Privacy Policy available to its thousands of resellers worldwide, giving the growing small business market easy access to the leading online privacy solution available.  The TRUSTe Privacy Policy ensures that the customer data collected by a small business is protected, and allows for compliance with regulatory requirements which impact their online business in the same way they impact larger corporations."

This could help small businesses impress security-minded consumers, too, and cause even regular folks to notice if other companies don’t measure up.
