Small Business Blog Use Still Lagging

You may be close to the cutting edge

It sounds like small business owners, on the whole, may not have a fantastic understanding of how valuable blogs can be.  A new report indicates that this group’s use of the medium has doubled in the past year, but that only brings the current percentage of users to about 40.

Admittedly, covering this info here feels not unlike preaching to the choir; the proportion of SmallBusinessNewz visitors who write blogs is probably much higher than average.  It’s not exactly a secret on this site that blogs represent a great way of connecting with customers.

Yet since 40 percent isn’t extremely high, it seemed worth hitting upon the point once again.  If nothing else, this might serve as a reminder of how you’re way ahead of some competitors.

And here’s one more interesting point: Warrillow & Co., which conducted the study of 1,210 small business owners, actually defined blog "use" as just reading the things.  So you’re probably way, way, ahead of the pack if you type out posts every so often.

Anyway, a hat tip goes to Matthew Bandyk.  It should also be noted that blogs might not be right for every small business, so there’s no need to feel guilty if you’ve come to the conclusion that they won’t work for you.
