Survey: Businesses Largely Pleased With Windows 7

Adoption plans in place

If you’re in the market for a new computer – or at least a new operating system – don’t worry about trying to avoid the absolute latest stuff.  A lot of companies are going to adopt Windows 7, and even more don’t have any problem with the software, according to the results of a fresh survey.

Here’s the info that’ll put you in good company if you decide to use Windows 7: a post on Information Technology Intelligence Corp.’s blog proclaimed, "A new independent ITIC/Sunbelt Software survey of nearly 1,500 companies worldwide indicates 60% of respondents will deploy Windows 7."  So a whole lot of businesses will be taking the leap with you.

Then here’s what ITIC and Sunbelt Software found that really makes the transition look like more of a hop or small step: "An overwhelming 80% majority of the survey respondents rated Windows 7 performance and applications compatibility with legacy applications ‘Excellent’ or ‘Very Good.’"

The main reason that more businesses aren’t planning to adopt Windows 7 seems to be that they’re content with XP and/or Vista.  Also, almost no one intends to move away from using some form of Windows.

So if there’s a little wiggle room in your IT budget, or if your old computer is ready to croak, consider giving Windows 7 a shot instead of sticking with the older alternatives.  It looks like it’s more than ready to help run small businesses.

  1. I must confess I’m a Microsoft hater.  That said, I’m actually quite impressed with their latest offerings.  Bing has been a real breath of fresh air, most noticeably their image search.  Vista doesn’t quite gel with me, but the only time I’ve had to reboot the machine I’ve had for 4 months now has been due to power failures.

Windows 7 is supposed to be a better version of Vista (although we all know that they will bloat it with all the "other stuff".  But that’s the nature of the beast.

But the true test will be time.

  2. I’m glad to read that Windows 7 is popular.  This indicates it works well.  I have yet to use it (still an XP user), but my next computer – which I’ll get within the next few months – will surely have win. 7.

How does Win. 7 compare to vista in terms of user friendliness?
