Interested in Some Word of Mouth Education?
By Chris Crum - Fri, 07/11/2008 - 10:17am.
I haven't written about any events in a while, and I stumbled across this one today that sounded pretty good. It's a word of mouth marketing seminar being put on by WoM guru Andy Sernovitz. I believe word of mouth to be one of the best ways to get customers because there is nothing like getting a testimonial from someone you trust. A customer is much more likely to visit your business if someone they know tells them good things about it as opposed to taking your advertisement's word for it.
For Those Wanting to Start a Business in This Economy
By Chris Crum - Wed, 06/11/2008 - 10:11am.
There is an interesting sounding seminar taking place in Sherman Oaks, California this month called "Entering into Business Ownership in today's Changing Economy". It is a two-hour interactive workshop, put together by a panel of five entrepreneurs.

By Eric Enge - Mon, 06/09/2008 - 9:57am.
Lisa Barone wrote an awesome post titled: SMX Advanced Goes to the Dark Side. With 60 comments (and counting), including several by Danny Sullivan, the discussion thread is fascinating as well. At the end of it all, it looks like the consensus is that the event was a bit more black hat than many people, including Danny, wanted.

Much like I did about a month ago, I wanted to provide you all with something of a roundup of upcoming small business events around the U.S. I will continue to add to this list as I learn about new events, and I would also like to encourage you to share other events in the comments, to try and help me make this as useful a resource as possible for people interested in attending or just learning about small business conferences, expos, etc.

Marketing with Facebook and the Web 2.0 Expo
By Lee Odden - Fri, 04/25/2008 - 10:14am.
After the keynote frenzy this morning, the session that stood out for me was “Facebook Marketing: Best Practices” with Jeremiah Owyang from Forrester Research as moderator, Evan Mager from AKQA, Holly Liu from Watercooler, Brett Keintz of 750 Industries and Stanford GSB and Kevin Barenblat of Context Optional. Some of the key takeaways from this session were:
