Student Entrepreneurs - Pay Attention

I did the opening presentation at MIT's Underground 2008 event for student entrepreneurs. My hat's off to Albert Park and his colleagues for organizing a great event. We need more of this kind of stuff in the Boston/Cambridge area to bring student entrepreneurs together with others.
Is Every Day Earth Day for YOUR Business?

If every day is Earth Day for small businesses, maybe it's time to ask yourself if this applies to your own business. Let's face it. Not all businesses are out to help the environment. I'd be interested in seeing the actual percentage of small businesses that are creating environmentally friendly products or those that are dedicated to actually cleaning up the environment.

Financial software provider Intuit, makers of QuickBooks, Quicken, and TurboTax, are saying that the future looks strong for small businesses in the U.S. after meeting with members of congress and industry experts.Intuit has been conducting a study for over a year, which found that "barriers to starting a small business will shatter and their success rates will improve over the next decade".

Are you prepared for the worst? A disaster can destroy or greatly impair your business at anytime. Hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, earthquakes, floods, etc, etc, etc.It's good to know your options and resources should such a thing occur. If you operate here in the United States, the Small Business Administration (SBA) is prepared to give aid in the event of a disaster.

Group To Put Election Focus On Small Business

More than one in two people in the U.S. private workforce work for or run a small business, according to numbers from the U.S. Small Business Administration Office of Advocacy and U.S. Census Bureau.To highlight the importance of that number, the National Small Business Association is launching a campaign, "Small Business: 7o Million Strong And Voting" to educate lawmakers, candidates and the public on the importance of small business.

Starcom, Tacoda and comScore’s “Natural Born Clickers” study suggests that advertisers looking to increase their brand awareness should dump click-through rates as a measure of success. The study found that, when it comes to display advertising, 50% of the clicks come from just 6% of the total US online population. And while these 25-44 year olds spend four times the amount online compared to non-clickers, they earn less than $40k a year.
