Silverpop recently shared the results of a survey about email marketing, and found that not only will social media play a bigger role, but email marketing budgets will increase in 2010. According to the firm's findings, about half (40%) of email marketers intend to increase their budgets for email marketing next year. 47% said their budgets would stay the same.

Among their findings, was that 80% of online coupon mailings garnered higher transaction-to-click rates and transaction rates than non-coupon campaigns. In other words, if you are using email marketing, you may want to seriously consider going the coupon route.

We continue to see evidence of more and more companies turning to social media as part of their marketing strategies, but a survey from Emailvision finds that only 3% of marketers are turning to social tools like blogs and Twitter. Like with all surveys, results should be taken with a grain of salt, and only 102 companies were surveyed here, but regardless, there is no question that there are still plenty of companies who are not utilizing such tools.
