Internet Advertising Avoids Government Regulation

The United States House Small Business Committee held a hearing yesterday to discuss possible government regulation for Internet advertising. Such regulation has been opposed, but according to this article, Congressman Charlie Gonzalez suggested that it may be needed at a later date. Google was the main focus of the hearing, specifically their recent advertising deal with Yahoo, that led to getting the wheels turning in the government mind that maybe some action needed to be taken.

It has been more expensive and difficult for owners of small businesses to obtain loans lately. The Federal Reserve acknowledges this, and of course so does Senator John Kerry.Kerry, in his continuous efforts to call attention to Bush Administration failures, is now calling for legislation to temporarily reduce fees for borrowers and lenders.A statement from Kerry's camp notes that entrepreneurs are being "squeezed" as a result of the mortgage-lending crisis.

Financial software provider Intuit, makers of QuickBooks, Quicken, and TurboTax, are saying that the future looks strong for small businesses in the U.S. after meeting with members of congress and industry experts.Intuit has been conducting a study for over a year, which found that "barriers to starting a small business will shatter and their success rates will improve over the next decade".
