You hand them out to people at events, leave them on you desk/counter for people to follow up with you later, and leave them anywhere a potential business contact or customer can get to them. Social networks can serve a similar purpose for businesses. Whereas a business card typically includes a phone number/fax, address, email address, etc to provide a path of communication, social networks have that path built right in.

Next Monday, November 17h, the New York Times is hosting its fourth annual Small Business Summit at the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers in NYC. I know travel expenses are one of the things many businesses are trying to cut back on, but before you read any further, general admission for this thing is only $99. That's not too bad, especially if you live in the New York area.
