Small Business Optimism Lowest of the Year

There's a new small business owner optimism survey out from Wells Fargo, and it's not the prettiest. Small business owner optimism for the future has fallen to its lowest point of the year, according to the survey. The survey was conducted early in the month, but future expectations have been dropping since the first quarter.

Anyone who thought (or at least hoped) the National Federation of Independent Business's Small-Business Optimism Index would climb forever has unfortunately been proven wrong. This week, the NFIB announced that the Optimism Index fell by a significant amount in March.

Washington, D.C. is America's capital, and as much as its politicians may embarrass us at times, its goings-on help set the tone for what happens elsewhere. So there's good news today, as Citigroup found that small business owners in D.C. are pretty optimistic about 2011.

If the National Federation of Independent Business Index of Small Business Optimism is to be believed, we're almost out of the recession. The NFIB released new data today, and the stats indicate that small business owners are more optimistic now than they've been anytime in the past three years.
NFIB Optimism Index Declines In December

A report concerning the National Federation of Independent Business Index of Small Business Optimism is out, and the news isn't great. The Index took a small slide last month, apparently making December the 36th month during which Index readings have been at recession levels.

The National Federation of Independent Business's website is looking rather festive these days, with snowflakes and touches of red and green at the top, and the latest report on optimism seems a decent match for it. The NFIB found that the Index of Small Business Optimism rose 1.5 points in November.
PEX Card Finds Business Owners Optimistic About 2011

Small business owners expect 2011 to go considerably smoother than 2010, judging by the results of the PEX Card Small Business Survey. When asked, the majority of small business owners expressed optimism about a couple important factors.The PEX Card organization explained in a statement, "34% of owners [are] saying they expected profits in the coming year to be 'significantly better' than in 2010. Twenty-eight percent of respondents answered 'slightly better' to the same question, and five percent noted 'slightly worse.'"
NFIB Finds Optimism Up In October

Judging from the National Federation of Independent Business's latest info, small business owners were in a significantly better mood in October compared to previous months. The National Federation of Independent Business Index of Small Business Optimism rose 2.7 points, hitting 91.7.
