SCORE Receives Grant To Help Small Businesses

The Deluxe Corporation Foundation has provided a $285,000 grant to help SCORE, a non-profit association focused on helping small businesses in the U.S. The grant will help SCORE increase its trained volunteer base by 50 percent, or an additional 11,000 mentors, over the next three years. With this larger mentor base, SCORE will be able to support the start or expansion of an estimated 1 million additional small businesses in the United States by 2017.

SCORE Launches eBusiness Education Website

The nonprofit association called SCORE is setting out to make sure small businesses owners take advantage of all the tech that's available to them.  Today, the group announced the launch of e-Business Now, a site designed to familiarize owners with Web-related tools and tricks.e-Business Now features sections dedicated to workshops, guides, events, stories, and resources.  There's even a section related to finding mentors, which could open the door to some interesting possibilities.

AVG, SCORE Partner For Small Business Security

Security firm AVG and small business counseling service SCORE are teaming up to keep small firms safe.  The organizations announced today that they've partnered for the sake of providing companies with educational resources and tools.Don't waste your time scanning this article for specific links; unfortunately, nothing's been released yet.  AVG and SCORE didn't say when they intend to start churning out stuff to help small businesses, either.

American Airlines Partners With Score On Small Business Education

American Airlines is sponsoring  SCORE's digital small small business education tools, including portions of the SCORE website and an eGuide, which helps small businesses identify opportunities for growth while providing helpful tips to manage their business.American Airlines has a long history of supporting small businesses, both through sponsorship of organizations like SCORE and through the American Airlines Business Suite, offering travel programs specifically designed to make employee travel more affordable.

SCORE Helping Small Businesses Succeed

A new Gallup survey shows that SCORE "Counselors to America's Small Business" is driving economic grwoth in the U.S.In 2009, SCORE clients started more than 68,000 new businesses, which resulted in the creation of 30,000 jobs. Through its free mentoring program with volunteer business experts, SCORE mentored nearly 180,000 aspiring and current small business owners in 2009.  The survey details that in 2009 SCORE clients grossed $38 billion in 2009 revenue, with an average of $314,000 per business.

Some nice poetry has been written about the path less traveled, and small businesses tend to be somewhat unique.  We'll set those facts aside for a moment, though, because SCORE is celebrating an impressive statistic involving eight million entrepreneurs.
