Tips For Maximizing AdWords Performance

Using the Bid Simulator and More

If you’re a small business trying to make it online, there’s a good chance you use Google AdWords as one of your marketing channels. There is also a chance, however, that you are not using it as effectively as you possibly could be. Are you getting the most out of your AdWords campaigns? Share your thoughts here.

For example, have you ever used Google’s AdWords Bid Simulator? This was launched a little over a month ago, and it lets you see what could have been, had you bid differently. It shows you the potential impact of your bid on your advertising results.

The Bid Simulator uses data from the past week to re-calculate the number of impressions for which your ad could’ve shown if you chose a different maximum CPC, how many clicks your ad could’ve gotten for those impressions, and how much those clicks could’ve cost.

You, as an advertiser, can take advantage of this information and apply the changes to your campaigns in the future. Although, past performance doesn’t guarantee future results, as Google has noted in the past.

You can find the tool in the "keywords" tab in your AdWords account. Click the bid simulator icon in the Max. CPC column by he bid of any keyword.

Google’s Dan Friedman has released a new video tutorial on AdWords bidding, that you might find useful if you have ten minutes to kill. In it, he talks about how to calculate vlues, interpret them, and use the data to maximize profit.

Google wants you to be successful with AdWords so you keep using it. It can pay to listen to what they have to say on the matter. This goes for the subject of PPC keyword analytics, which we also recently talked about, as well. Read seven steps for that from Google, to further educate yourself on maximizing AdWords performance.

  1. For the 1st few months of using AdWords all I really did was spend money and gathering up data. As the tool advanced in time and more reports and with the recent updates to AdWords I was able to finally find a sweet spot on the web that worked for my site.

In the 1st month over 10k was spent and now it’s about 8 bucks a day bringing in over 8 website sales each day.. heck, it’s like a throttle for my site. When we get too busy we just turn it way down or off and when slower we crank it up!

This is just some advice.. use the tools they give you, learn them inside and out. If possible, make a niche on the web to promote and not a site with too many options for them to choose from.. they are looking for what you’re promoting not other things so make sure they can at least see your featured product.

    Hope this helps someone :)
