Podcasting is often done for entertainment purposes, but when done properly, it can also serve as another weapon in the marketing arsenal of your business.

Podcasting may not be right for every business, but if you are looking for a fresh way to serve some content, it may be the answer you're looking for.

The Three Cs

Rough highlights Creativity and quality Content as two important factors to a good podcast. You would stick by these guidelines in any form of marketing campaign, so why not in a podcast as well?

Rough also stresses Consistency in podcasting. "You’ve got to be consistent and you have to be doing this for real. Now you can just do this for fun if you want, but remember don’t expect great things, if you’re not planning on being consistent," he says.

Technology


Before you jump into podcasting, you're going to need some equipment.

Who better to get some tips on such equipment from than Neville Hobson. Neville is a podcasting veteran, with his show For Immediate Release, which he co-hosts with Shel Holtz. I strongly recommend reading what he has to say on podcasting technology.

As I said, podcasts may not be for every business, so it is a good idea to stop and evaluate your assets as Lisa McNeill puts it, before you go and invest your time and money into creating one.
