Presidential Candidates Weak On Small Business Policy

They'll be happy to take your tax dollars though

Would you like to know which candidate will best represent the interests of small business? You're not the only one wondering.

A poll at SBTV.com found most people believe Barack Obama would be the most responsive to the small business owner. Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee followed, each grabbing 20 percent of the votes in the informal survey.

Don't look for a hard answer on a specific area like small business needs. Presidential candidates deal in broad rhetoric on hot-button issues. John Edwards tried campaigning on the back of the ongoing recovery in New Orleans and quickly found himself pushed out of the race.

Big business gives big money to candidates. You aren't hearing about small business at the debates or public appearances, much in the way that no one talks about decisive reform for healthcare. Think about how single-payer healthcare might help your employee costs, then send the candidates an email asking for his or her stance.

As with anything else in small business, the gains you realize will come from your effort. You can't ladle out campaign cash like the insurance industry can, so don't expect the next President to do more than the last couple have accomplished over the past 16 years.
