Please, please, please show
Please, please, please show me how how either or any liberal or left leaning politician would be good for America, let alone small business! Between raising taxes (over the past several years it seems as though most of us small businee owners are working to pay taxes & insurance) & more government mandates, there will be a massive shift to redistribute more of our hard earned wealth, whether through direct taxation or some form of "greening" or other such nonsense.
Anyone complaining about manufacturing jobs going over seas (because the labor costs are much less - or you could bring up the illegal alien bit if you like; you pick) or the increased use of robotics had better closely examine their own buying habits & consumer demands. Here's the illustration I like to use:
I pull out my trusty cheap $0.39 ball point pen & ask how much they would be willing to pay for it. Usually I get a response of somewhere between 0.25 - 0.69 cents. According to a close friend who is a Director of marketing for one of the worlds largest ball point pen manufacturers, the cost to manufacturer (not including distribution costs) that pen here in the northeastern part of the US is about 0.20 cents per pen. By moving the jobs to the Southern part of the US, helps to net an additional 0.02 - 0.03 per pen. Moving the manufacturing to the far east or to Mexico brings it down even farther, including shipping, taxes, etc. They can make a profit.
Why would anybody, really, be in business to break-even or loose money? It doesn't make sense.
Are things tough in this country right now? Yes. Does government interference help or hinder the American dream or entreprenuership? Usually hinders. We do we want to give more power & authority to our federal government? The powers that be haven't earned it. Not from either side of the aisle. The only way that the Federal Budget has been balanced over the years has been by taking money from the Social Sec fund.
Now the greedy, #@**?!!s are in the process of figuring out how to tax web sales. It will eventually happen.
I don't know about you all, but I want as little of Uncle Sam, or any other local, state or federal relative in my life or especially in my pockets.
Who do I like? I'll be holding my nose when I walk in to cast my vote.
small business
I have a small business, and obama thinks taxing me futher will help?...then he's and idiot...and also taxing the oil companies and the rich is also a bad idea...what does he think the oil companies will do if they are taxed...they'll just add that to the cost of oil, and futher raise the cost of gas!!! and he must be completely out of touch with business.....this is how is works.. when the rich are making money, small business is making money off of the rich...then we, the small business owners can hire more employs.and build companies ..thus creating jobs! for the poor...if he wants to rob the rich and just give to the poor... then he's dumber than i thought...the poor do not create jobs...they just blow it and remain poor!....remember most poor people are uneducated...thats not exactly the best path for our country!!
A tingle down the leg of the ASBL President
Lloyd Chapman, president of the ASBL, sounds a little bit too much like Chris Matthews of MSNBC who claims he got a tingling sensation down his leg when he thinks about Obama. Chapman, who said, “In my life, I have never been more excited about any politician than I am about Barack Obama. I believe that he holds the key to a new future for all Americans. I believe that with Sen. Obama in the White House, Americans are going to be more proud of this country than they have ever been in their lives." This is a person who is supposed to represent small businesses.
Just because you don't like the current administration doesn't mean that the other party is better suited to fulfill all of your hopes and dreams. As a former financial services professional and an entrepreneur of 27 years I have had plenty of experience with investment prospectus's that always state "Past performance is not necessarily an indication of future performance." But even my most uneducated clients understood that past performance is most definitely an indicator of future performance. Barak Obama's past performance (what little their is of it) does not bode well for small business, or any business for that matter.
Since when has the concept of take from the rich and give to the poor become an American ideal? And Obama's idea of rich is laughable. This campaign has seen the demonizing of John McCain's in-laws for working hard and achieving the American Dream, how did Barak Obama make his money? Did he work hard for it? Maybe. Did he produce jobs, enhance the economy or build a business? NO! McCain's in-laws made their money the old fashioned way; they earned it by building something that will last.
If you want to know what makes me shiver, it is the thought of a man who after being imprisoned for several years has an opportunity to go home early, but refuses knowing he will most likely be beaten or even killed for his decision, because he knows it wouldn't be right if he went home first.
Would Obama make the same decision? I think he might, if enough cameras were on him at the time.
