Advertising On Your Own

Cheaper and potentially high-profile options

With the economy continuing to slide, businesses should consider every possible way in which they can stand out from the crowd.  Unfortunately, good advertising can cost a lot of money, so a cheaper route is to more or less create your own.

We'd advise against going too overboard with these ideas; on an episode of "Corner Gas," one character stops traffic with his truck in order to promote a diner, and the diner's owner ends up following him around, apologizing.

But, so long as the vehicle's not quite old or in embarrassing shape, covering an automobile with company logos is a decent idea.  Most people actually pay attention to the traffic around them, whereas just about everybody's learned to ignore signs and billboards.

You might also try something involving clothing.  Again, image is important - the day you don't have time to shower or brush your teeth is the day an official t-shirt stays in the closet - but this is a cheap and easy way to get your company seen in stores and at sporting events.

"Candice W." lists these and several other ideas in an old Associated Content article.  We think it'd be wise to stay away from business-related tattoos.  But advertise as you see fit, and in the interest of saving money, see if you (and/or your employees) can actually be the one(s) to do it.

I got some good experiences on my own

Hi Doug!

I want to tell you I have a wonderful experience on the sense of stickers for cars. I was working in a new radio and with our colored CocaCola stickers started going out in Summer to the beach and putting them. The color, perfect. The design wonderful. The place no worried driving. What happenned? After many years, I still see some from time to time downtown!!!
