April 21st -25th is National Small Business Week.  The Small Business Administration has been celebrating this for 45 years, and events will be held in both Washington D.C. and New York City.

"Small businesses drive our economy, creating jobs and opportunities for Americans in every community across the country," said SBA Administrator Steve Preston.

"The SBA is very proud of the vital role it plays in enabling America's entrepreneurs, and we are excited to be able to recognize a few of these great success stories during the week," Preston added.

Small Business Week will kick off in Washington with 3 days of events recognizing over 100 small business owners from around the U.S.

Then events will move to New York on the 24th for a closing bell ceremony at NASDAQ honoring the Women's Business Center Program, an awards event for small business lenders and a financial forum on community investment.

Award winners from Small Business Week will meet with top agency officials, congressional representatives and national business lenders.

Nominees are selected by a combination of local trade associations, chambers of commerce and business organizations as well as government agencies.
