Today is the day. I'm not talking about St. Patrick's Day. I'm talking about the kickoff of Search Engine Strategies New York.

 The granddaddy of search engine conferences is beginning today with workshops scheduled to begin just about now as I'm writing this.

Of course as always there are a ton of interesting sessions in the line-up from many of the biggest names in search.

One particular session that may be of interest to SmallBusinessNewz readers is going down on Wednesday and it's called "SEM Small Business Blitz". According to the SES site, "This session will provide a rapid fire take on how to tackle the most popular SEM tactics with a small staff and an even smaller budget. Would feature practical, affordable ideas and real world examples on PPC, SEO, Viral, Blogging and Social Media."

Sounds like just what the doctor ordered right? Of course before you worry about search engine marketing, make sure your site is ready for viewing. Otherwise it could be damaging.

Speakers at this session will include Jennifer Laycock of Search Engine Guide, Matt McGee of Marchex, and Stoney deGeyter (who you're no doubt familiar with) of Pole Position Marketing. Moderating the session will be Search Engine Watch Expert Carrie Hill.

I'm looking forward to seeing the info that comes out of this session. I'm afraid I won't be attending, but a few of our WebProNews people will be at the conference covering a variety of sessions and will be contributing articles and videos (which are always fun), so be sure to check there throughout the week.
