Speaking of Small Business Contests...

BizCast Honors Small Business Week with Contest

It's funny that I was just talking about running contests earlier today, because now I have stumbled across the news that podcast Startup BizCast is running one in honor of Small Business Week (April 21st - 25th).

I found this story worthy of mentioning since the prizes that Startup BizCast is offering are targeted towards small businesses. This also emphasizes my point about marketing through contests from earlier. Not only can you get traffic from submitting a contest to a site like Contest Beat; you can also get exposure from people writing blog posts or articles about it like I'm doing right now.

To enter this particular contest, just give Startup BizCast the "best advice you would give to other business owners".

Prizes from Startup BizCast's contest will include:

- coupon codes worth $360 from press release newswire PRWeb

- a free website SEO evaluation and an hour of consultation from NetSearch Direct

- a year of unlimited online data backup from Carbonite.

Startup BizCast will also interview the grand-prize winner in an episode of their show, giving them a chance to promote their business.

The deadline for the contest is April 12th, a little earlier than the kickoff of Small Business Week, but the spirit is still there. You can find the contest details here.

Thanks for the tip

Hi Chris,

Thanks for posting about the Startup BizCast Small Business Week Contest, and thanks for the tip about Contest Beat. I'm signing up right now.

You mentioned in your post that April 12 is before Small Business Week. True. The reason the contest is ending before Small Business Week is because of the interview you mentioned. I needed to give myself and the winner time to schedule a day for the interview. I didn't want to be scrambling. Additionally, I plan to use the advice and tips gathered in contest entries in the episode that will be published the week before Small Business Week.

Thanks again ... I really appreciate it!

Understandable...

Hi Steve,

Thanks for reading. Glad to spread the word. Seems like a worthwhile contest for businesses.

Making the deadline before Small Business Week is understandable. Nobody wants to scramble when they don't have to. That's when mistakes happen.

I hope it all goes well!

Business Contest

Here is one more pretty good business contest, the VINE project by Seven Fund. Seems to be a worthwhile cause.

On more contest...

One additional contest your readers may be interested in is the Inc. Magazine/Winning Workplaces 2011 Top Small Company Workplace award. Applications are being accepted at https://tsw.winningworkplaces.org/ through January 14, 2011. The prize is being featured in the June 2011 issue of Inc. and in a nationally distributed press release. Winners will also be honored at our joint Leadership Conference in June 2011 (location and dates TBA). Thanks.
