On the list of people and things that everybody wants to avoid annoying (significant others, significant others' mothers, and so on), the IRS ranks pretty high.  So here's a friendly reminder that the April 15th tax deadline is approaching.

If you want to have professionals do your taxes, don't give them a ring on the 14th - given that it is a rather busy time of year for them, most accountants aren't going to be able to promise anything like a 24-hour turnaround time.

Also, just for the sake of not getting trampled at the Post Office or generally tempting fate, it might be wise to stay a little ahead of the cutoff date.  E-filing is an option, but keep in mind that you'll often wind up paying a fee.

Finally, if you're still scrambling for ways to save money, an AllBusiness article lists a number of allowable deductions.  Think about things like employee wages, rent or lease payments, interest on business loans, real estate taxes on business property, business insurance, advertising and promotion costs, employee education and training, legal and professional fees, utilities, and office repairs.
