The Best Places To Start a Business

Some states left out...

Fortune Small Business has put together a detailed list (complete with descriptions, pros and cons) of the 100 best cities in the United States to live and launch a small business.

The Best Cities to start a business Bellevue, Washginton is at the top of that list, and here's why according to Fortune's Mina Kimes:

Like many of the places on our list, Bellevue is a city in transition: no longer a bedroom community, but not yet a crowded, expensive metropolitan hub. Bellevue has grown with unusual grace in recent years. Huge corporations exist symbiotically with startups, a booming downtown abuts healthy residential neighborhoods, and the rising skyline is tempered by an abundance of parks, as well as lakeside and mountain views...

Georgetown, Texas and Buford, Georgia round out the top three. The list contains a good mix of big cities like Denver and Santa Fe, and cities I've never heard of like Hamden, Connecticut and Corvallis, Oregon.

Sadly, no cities from our native Kentucky made the cut. I'm sure Lexington was number 101.

The list is definitely worth a perusal, particularly if you are considering relocating. And we all know location can be a very big factor in the success of a brick and mortar business.
