SBA Turns Over PR Executive's Correspondence

...ASBL issues statement.

Today, the American Small Business League (ASBL) announced that the Small Business Administration (SBA) has agreed to turn over 2 years of correspondence from Press Office Director Mike Stamler.

The ASBL and SBA have been engaged in numerous legal battles lately. The ASBL was prepared to take the SBA to court for SBA Administrator Stephen Preston's refusal to share certain information regarding Fortune 500 firms with members of Congress, but they finally made the info available - for a price of $2300.00 . The ASBL expects to find evidence now of the SBA's intentions of misleading congress.

In a statement today, the ASBL said:

The ASBL requested the information under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). The ASBL believes Stamler's correspondence will help to expose the SBA's long-standing public relations campaign to misrepresent the diversion of billions of dollars in federal small business contracts to Fortune 1000 firms. The SBA has consistently tried to deny the problem by describing it as "miscoding" and a "myth."

"Mike Stamler's office has made blatantly false and misleading statements to the media for years on this issue and tried to pressure journalists to drop the story," said ASBL President Lloyd Chapman.

"Stamler's absurd 'Myth vs. Fact' press release is a prime example of the worst kind of government propaganda designed to mislead the public," added Chapman. "Americans want an open and transparent government and people like Mike Stamler are an obvious barrier to that principle."

The ASBL will review Stamler's communications thoroughly, and perhaps get to the bottom of the whole mess.
