Small business owners are signaling confidence in their own businesses despite their belief that the economic recession will continue into next year, according to the 2010 U.S. Bank Small Business Annual Survey.The survey found small business owners are resilient survivors who are always on the go. They make time for friends and family, and giving back to the community is a priority.

SBA To Launch Redesigned Site This Fall

The U.S. Small Business Administration said today that a complete redesign of its website, SBA.gov, will launch this fall.The new SBA.gov will make it easier for small businesses, lenders, small business counselors and other members of the small business community to find the information they need through a simplified navigation structure. In addition, new features will allow users to customize settings to provide information specific to their needs.
Bank Of America May Spur $100M In Small Biz Loans

There's more good news today for small business owners who could use a little cash. Bank of America has announced that it will give $10 million in grants to nonprofit lenders, which could in turn stimulate a total of $100 million in lending.
Consumers Plan To Spend More On Back-To-School Shopping

Consumers are planning to spend more this back-to-school shopping season than in recent years, according to a new survey by Deloitte.Nearly thirty percent (28%) of consumers said they plan to spend more this year on back-to-school shopping compared to last year, while just 17 percent indicate they plan to spend less.
Record Boom In Small Businesses Predicted

A whole lot more small businesses should be springing up this year all over the UK, according to a new report from the Federation of Small Businesses. In fact, the FSB has forecast that a record 300,000 people will forego the working-for-someone-else routine and establish their own company this year.
Consumer Confidence Falls In July

The Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index which declined in June, fell further in July.The Index now stands at 50.4 (1985=100), down from 54.3 in June. The Present Situation Index decreased to 26.1 from 26.8. The Expectations Index declined to 66.6 from 72.7 last month."Consumer confidence faded further in July as consumers continue to grow increasingly more pessimistic about the short-term outlook," said Lynn Franco, Director of The Conference Board Consumer Research Center.
