Save Your Customer's Fuel Costs And Profit

The drive you make could be the sale you save

One little niche in small business may be expanding thanks to a weakened dollar and soaring gas prices as entrepreneurs find ways to save their customers a drive.

If you can provide value to your customer, in terms of their voracious cash-eating gas tanks, the current economic crisis could be a time for you to prove your worth as a business, or repurpose it in another direction.

TheStreet.com suggested, among other ideas, it could be a good time to be in the scooter business. Not everyone can be a scooter dealer, but other possibilities exist.

Food and grocery delivery services take over for the typical weekly ride to the supermarket. By combining efforts, an entire section of an office could arrange for a concierge-type service to do all of their shopping at one time.

If you run this type of business, now is the time to advertise, especially as gas begins reaching $4 per gallon. Any business that could provide a savings benefit to a consumer on the fuel side will have an edge, at least until the revolution comes and the oil traders are led away by unkind people.

Take your office to potential customers, for example, rather than making them come to you. Plenty of enterprises do this now, but many others may be able to do this. Should you be capable of providing a service on the road as well as you do in your office, let customers know about it, track your mileage, and see if you receive an added benefit during tax preparation time in 2009.

Taking the classroom to the student.

The customer is also saving another valuable commody, time.

Most of my college degree came from a virtual university. The few classroom hours were mostly for testing. A major savings since the nearest community college offering the nursing course I wanted was over an hour away (back when gas was under $2)

Now with nursing my hobby (a part time job) and as an ajunct instructor a a local community college, my adult learners are afforded the same savings and comfort.

The class is on building a successful internet based business. My students are varied from business owners to work at home mom wannabes. All can take the class by watching videos at their  leasure in the comfort of their home. The course work is also done at home.

The classroom is a workshop for when the student needs hands on help, open for three hours once a week. Attendance is not based on a warm seat, rather on finishing the weeks course.

It is not only profitable, it has the added benefit of saving the student money, time and the freedom to care for their varied needs with out being tied down to a classroom scheadule.

Thanks for the article David.
