Flexibility for Employees Could Mean Money Saved

...for all parties involved.

An interesting survey was released yesterday indicating that many technology workers would be willing to take a 10% pay cut if they could only work from the comfort of their homes.

It's not that surprising considering the current cost of gasoline.

This may be an option you want to explore for your own employees. It depends largely, on what you require from them, but if their job doesn't require them to be on location, it could not only make them happier and save them money on gas (not to mention being easier on the environment), but save you some money as well.

Again, this depends on the type of business you are running, but if you have a number of employees who's job requirements could just as easily be met from their homes than at the office, you could save on energy costs, and perhaps even relocate to a smaller (cheaper) location.

With so many workers just in one survey indicating that they would take a pay cut to be able to work from home, you just may be able to save money on salaries as well. With all of this saved money, you might be able to come up with enough to make some of those improvements to your business that you've been longing for but not been able to afford.

Communication is the key to working with employees from different locations, luckily, we live in an age where that has never been easier or cheaper. You have the phone, instant message programs, web conferencing software, email, etc. to stay connected with your workforce.

In a time where there's no indication of fuel costs getting any cheaper, it won't be surprising to find more job candidates looking for this type of flexibility.
