Here's hoping you've either already got all the money you need or possess an overwhelming amount of charisma.  There are still more indications that it's becoming harder for small businesses to receive loans.

Part of the reason behind some drooping numbers may be a decreased interest in getting loans; certain owners might indeed have some cash on hand, while a second group could prefer not taking on debt at a time like this.

Otherwise, Nick Carey reports, "According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, for the year up to July 11, about 10% fewer 7(a) loans were issued than in the same period in 2007.  These are the SBA's most popular loans and - with a government guarantee covering up to 85% - low risk for lenders."
