FSB Announces Keep Trade Local Photography Tour

A "see what small business could do" approach

Some people will always manage to get a finger in front of the camera's lens, and for whatever reason, a few photos will often fail to come out.  So we'll alter a cliche by saying that good pictures are worth a lot of words, and the FSB is taking advantage of this with a new Keep Trade Local photography tour.

"The whole tour is being sponsored by the Arts Council England," according to a Federation of Small Businesses press release.  Its purpose is, in a way, to show an alternate and better reality.

"An array of photographs, illustrating independent retailers from across the country, will be hung in disused shops and town centre market days to echo how the spaces could be better utilised but for small businesses being driven out of our high streets," the statement continues.

Who's supposed to see these pictures and how small businesses are supposed to return isn't entirely clear, but even if just a few folks decide to avoid large chains, perhaps the tour will be considered a success.  The Keep Trade Local tour is certainly something that Americans can imitate, too.

The tour will stop by Melton Mowbray (Leicester), Haslemere (Surrey), Castle Market (Sheffield) Truro (Cornwall), Darlington (County Durham), Coventry (Warwickshire), Huntley (Gloucestershire), and Harleston (Norfolk) if you happen to have the time and opportunity to see it.
