Small business owners should find this news interesting: Google has signed a deal with NBC Universal to offer ads on a number of cable channels. The really interesting part is that local markets will be addressed.

It should be pretty easy for small businesses to get ads on TV this way, because as you can see on Google's TV Ads page, you can manage these simply through an AdWords account.

So far the channels that will be available for this are: MSNBC, CNBC, Sci-Fi, Oxygen, Sleuth, and Chiller, but the companies said more may be added later. If they add just plain NBC into the mix, then that's going to be a huge audience, and not limited to cable.

Google already has a similar partnership with DirecTV by the way, and has attempted to strike deals with other major providers. I would not be surprised to see more come around in the future. For more on the Google/NBCU deal, read my WebProNews piece.
