Learn how your attitude determines your success. An attitude can change a business for the good or for the bad. You might think it's ridiculous to base an entire business on an attitude until you think how much your attitude affects each day of your life.
Circumstances affect our attitudes, but it is our job to maintain a positive attitude even when circumstances hit us the wrong way. Life happens. We can either take control of the situation or let the situation take control of us.
I struggle with maintaining a positive attitude all the time. Rain affects me like you wouldn't believe. For starters, I think rain is depressing. Another downside of rain for me is that I have naturally curly hair that I usually straighten. When it rains, my hair is frizzy no matter how much time I spend styling it. I usually spend my whole day gloomy, irritated, and depressed.
Putting my silly example aside, think about your business. A business owner has a lot of responsibility, but it is his attitude that sets the tone for the entire business. It's like the old saying, "When Momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!"
If the business owner is worried and negative, then the employees will adopt that same outlook. The business owner needs to be confident and determined. There are unfortunate situations, but try to avoid the following "can't do it" attitudes.
- I can't. I have no time - I've already got too much on my plate.
- I can't. There's just not enough money to do everything.
- I can't. My competitors are making the market too tough.
- I can't. Technology will only complicate my business.

Gail -- I'm so glad you're
Absolutely!
Abby, you're absolutely right. A positive attitude is essential as well as, I believe, an attitude of serving.
As a safety and security product web site owner, I never want to lose site of the fact that I'm here to serve the safety and security needs of my visitors. I want to help them feel a bit safer with my products and I do all I can to help them get the protection they feel they need.
When I keep that in mind it helps me stay focused on them and not me. Helping other achieve what they need is the first step in achieving ones own goals.
