Report: Entrepreneurs Losing Sleep

One more thing to thank Wall Street for

A sleepless night can be a great thing - the result of a book, movie, or significant other providing you with something better than being unconscious.  A lack of sleep can easily be caused by negative influences, however, and it seems that the bad economy is keeping a great many small business owners awake.

One issue a study from Norwich Union didn't seem to address is how much time the average small business owner even tries to dedicate to sleep; interrupting four hours would be much worse than losing a few minutes out of the middle of a ten-hour sleep session.

But anyway, a Startups article reports, "Almost one in six entrepreneurs and small business managers 'regularly' wake up in the middle of the night worry about their business, the research by insurance company Norwich Union said."

And about half of those affected by sleeplessness identified the market as the source of their stress.

You can hoist a mug of warm milk knowing that you're part of a crowd, then, or be thankful if your stress level isn't high enough to result in you yawning at customers all day.  The lunchtime nap is an indulgence that some people have recommended, regardless.

Late night worry-work!

Since my (Adults Only Please) business in run through the Internet (http://mistressrana.blogspot.com and www.XXXSweetTaboos.com), I spend a great deal of late night hours on the computer promoting it through ads and postings. The current state of the economy scares the hell out of me. It's bad enough that I lose sleep constantly just to work a few more hours with site promotion and searching for honest third party processors, but now I lose even more sleep wondering if the economy is going to survive long enough to let my small business survive. Thanks, Mistress Rana.

Sleepless in Las Vegas

Ever since I started my own business Lila's Freaky Corner, I can certainly attest to years of sleepless nights.  And I always thought the sex industry was immune to the poor economy.  Afterall, sex for men doesn't stop just because money is short.  But the failing economy has struck me as well, and I now spend many more hours night after night worrying about whether my business will survive.  Those afternoon naps really do help, and thankfully, being a work at home business means we can nod off for an hour or two and skip that "afternoon delight."  Naps work out for me since many of my callers are business men who are "hard" at work during those hours *grin*.  Hopefully, things will pick up soon and I can get back to a semi-regular schedule of sleep.  Sincerely, Lady Lila.

900 Number Business

For 19 years as an entrepreneur selling 900 numbers and text message solutions, I've always said the highs are higher and the lows are lower when you are self-employed.  It's not for everybody, but I can't imagine doing it any other way.

Big black clouds all over UK

We've been in business for over 16 years, 8 years of that running our present company formation business, we've never experienced or seen things as bad as they are presently!  So, you can imagine sleepless nights for us now have become the norm!

We're actually in stronger position compared to many others, but this is only due to the fact that we took steps early enough!  However, we still are unsure about what will happen, whether we'll be able to survive this downturn!  Thanks to the greed game of our banking boys/girls out there!

To everybody else, good luck!
