Halloween Expected To Bring Small Businesses Happiness

Spending on the rise

Don't love Halloween?  For a number of reasons, you should.  And as a small business owner, you may be especially happy to hear that a new report indicates consumer spending on the holiday is expected to be impressive this year.

"[M]ore consumers plan to celebrate the holiday this year (64.5% vs. 58.7%)," according to a statement from the National Retail Federation.  Also, "This year, the average person plans to spend $66.54 on the holiday, up from $64.82 one year ago.  Total Halloween spending for 2008 is estimated to reach $5.77 billion."

So regardless of what your company sells, it might be a good idea to revise or repurpose at least one or two products to match Halloween.  And don't forget to make sure you and your employees demonstrate the right spirit.  From there, it'll hopefully spread to your customers.

After all, setting aside religious implications, Halloween has to be one of the best holidays.  While other celebrations focus on whole meals, Halloween spotlights the best part: dessert.  And compared to every scary or funny thing under the sun, Santa, a turkey, and a rabbit just can't hold up.

On a more practical note, since there's no telling what the economy will look like by the time Thanksgiving and Christmas roll around, Halloween might present itself as a sort of "get while the getting's good" situation.

I totally agree...

Even with the economy that is in hot waters, people are spending. I personally put up a site few months ago, so I can capture the leads for this Halloween. Don't miss out, the Holiday season is coming, get some of that money going!

Halloween = $

I do agree, Halloween is a great Holiday! At what other time of the year can you put on a custom (no matter how silly it is) and become someone or something you not for atleast a few hours. I remember as a kid how much fun we would have in our get-ups, running around the neighborhood and terrorizing it :) Though now, I think I have just as much fun as an adult. I get to still put on a custom, make up the house, and scare the willy's out of the other Adults. Yes I said the Adults, our haunts are kid friendly but Adults are fair game! So as for the retailers, I know some of them will definately be getting some of my $'s. However, I will be reusing some stuff from the previous years. With gas prices and the economy the way it is, I still have to try and save some $'s when I can.

Happy Halloween!!

Right now

The overall economy may be on the decline, but there are a few basic needs that will always have to be filled.

That's what I do. Provide ways for guys to be more fulfilled where it counts -- in their personal lives. Not only will they be more happy, so will their partners.

As it gets colder, we spend a lot more time indoors than we do in the summertime. Why not make the inside time happy times?
