small biz owners and the election
Found this interesting quote in a George S. May International press release (could be the same one used for this article): "However, 59.9 percent of respondents said they felt that Sen. RE:
Definitely seeing effects
As a small, home based web designer, I am definitely starting to see economic effects of this recession. A lot of people are slowing their spending because they are not sure what is going to happen 6 months from now and they are going into conservation mode. A few of my customers are fairly far behind on their invoices. I tend to befriend my customers and really care about their businesses, so I just don't have the heart to ask them for full payments. It can be difficult to wait, but it definitely instills customer loyalty in better economic times!
I have also changed my other business, 50StatesClassifieds.com, to free classifieds. (Previously ads were $4.95). Things have slowed down so much in the last couple of months, I figured it would cheer people up to be able to advertise for free rather than pay. And of course I am hoping that they will remember it later when the recession is over, and remain loyal customers. :)
