Thanks, Chris, for sharing the new info. I've done a bit of research on email marketing and it's effectivness for my safety and security products and it's not really that effective. I'm thinking Web 2.0 for me!
Combined Approach Better
I agree with Debbie that Web 2 is a sound option, but I tend not to use just one approach. I've found fax advertising to be very cost effective and also effective in creating sales.
The main benefit for me is the ability to target market.
If you use a combination of several methods eg, email, fax, article submissions, online advertising, and say news media ads, you have a better chance of picking up customers from different pockets of potential.

You’ll have a smaller percentage of your base opt in, but those subscribers should be much more likely to convert and you will have avoided stressing the rest of your list with as many extra emails.
