A campaign that should benefit small businesses will soon head to London.  After a couple months of preparation, the Federation of Small Businesses is moving forward with its Keep Trade Local crusade.

A press release explains, "In a tour of six London venues, the travelling campaign will raise awareness about the six key pressure points from the Keep Trade Local manifesto."  These are planning, parking charges, business rates relief, crime prevention, post office closures, and public procurement, in case you're curious.

Then, "A photography exhibition of independent retailers from across the country will illustrate why our small shops and public houses are so important to our communities in these difficult times, and how they save our high streets from the 'identi-kit syndrome.'"

Depending on how things go, London-based small companies might see a big uptick in business.  Moreover, since London is so important within the UK, the effect could easily spread, and there will be other stops on the Keep Trade Local tour, regardless.

Count on American small business organizations imitating the campaign if this effort succeeds, and don't be shy about sending emails if you want them to start sooner rather than later.
