FSB Calling For Lower Credit Card Rates

Begin the fresh year by cutting costs

New Year's resolutions are often of a personal nature; people want to lose weight, become better husbands/wives/parents, or whatever.  But financial issues also get some attention, and in the event any small business owners want to clean up their credit card situations, the Federation of Small Businesses stands right behind them.

The FSB's sought-after result is a cap on interest rates.  It's easy to see how this would help small business owners dig themselves out of any monetary holes they happen to have fallen into.

Better still (since resolutions are infamously hard to keep, after all), the FSB's take is that just about everyone, and not just the affected owners, needs to play a role in achieving this goal.

According to a press release, "The FSB is . . . calling on the Government, the banks, local councils and consumers to play their part during the year by providing support to small businesses in fighting regulation, accessing finance and maintaining cash flow to buck the increasing trend of business closures."

That's not quite as easy a thing to shout as the phrase "Happy New Year," but hopefully we'll see the one concept leading to the other before too long.

FSB Calls for Help, but will anyone important hear them????

Take a look at my latest comments for thoughts regarding government failures to date to assist America's small businesses and the consumers that use their products and service. See http://guruatmoneyassistant.wordpress.com The government has financed the banks, protected Wall Street and back stopped the auto industry, but they have ignored the needs and potential catastrophic impacts of the small businesses of the US. Limiting interest rates is just one limited step. Encouraging banks to lend, promoting a major SBA program similar to "HOPE for Homes", encouraging lenders to extend credit rather than reduce amounts available, are but a few of the many steps they could take. The FSB is to be commended, but at the same time must call upon the communities across the US to mobilize and lobby Uncle Sam to work to protect our small businesses, their employees, and the core of the American Economy.
