Survey Says: Small Businesses Key To Better Future

Just about everything else of less importance

Put the average small business owner next to a photogenic anchorperson, the CEO of a Fortune 500 company, a politician, or a well-known scientist, and perhaps not a lot of eyes and ears will swivel his (or her) way.  But the results of a new poll seem to show that Americans have a greater amount of faith in small business owners and entrepreneurs.

We Media and Zogby Interactive contacted 2,397 adults nationwide earlier this month and posed the question, "Who will lead us to a better future?"  A full 63 percent of respondents then cast a vote for people with ties to small businesses.

Only 52 percent of respondents said science and technology leaders are on the right path, and confidence levels continued to drop from there.  The category of "government" got 31 percent of the vote, "large corporations and business leaders" received 21 percent, and just 13 percent of respondents expressed support for "traditional media."  (Anita Campbell has all of this plotted on a nice graph if you're a visual person.)

Anyway, if consumers really put their wallets behind these sentiments, then, well, recession over for the little guys.  Or maybe small businesses will get helped a little if politicians shift their focus and news organizations start to cover the industry more.

At the least, it looks like you've got a large and enthusiastic cheering section.

Response to "Survey Says: Small Businesses Key To Better Future"

Agree.

Basically, small businesses, in general, are slim and easier to react to the changing environment. Operating cost is relatively lower and hence can still survive even with the revenue drops by 20% to 30%.

The relationship between the management and the staff in these small businesses is generally closer, they are able to work something out in order to put through this hard time together.

Small Business

Small businesses play a great role in a national economy due to many factors. I will highlight only one here. Small businesses supplying NEED oriented products to customers cause revenue (in the form of profit) to be shared among a large pool of people in the nation, in contrast to a large amount of revenue being absorbed by one or two big players in the nation/region. Revenue shared among more people. This prevents economic inequality within a nation.

Small businesses give

Small businesses give america it's backbone, they are the beginnign of the american dream.

it's hadly suprising that

it's hadly suprising that people don't trust the big corporations, what with the scandals over the last year or so. I'm saying small businesses are any better, but because of the scandals then business need to be more transparent which a good thing for the consumer.
