If you weren't able to make it to the FSB's annual conference in Wales this weekend, well, sorry.  Neither were any SmallBusinessNewz representatives, if it makes you feel better.  But we do have a partial transcript of what the FSB's national chairman said to attendees in his opening speech.

John Wright gave what looks like a rather good pep talk.  He began by admitting that the economy isn't in such good shape, and this was a smart approach; there's no point in denying or sugarcoating what's been on the news almost nonstop for more than six months.

According to a Federation of Small Businesses press release, Wright then continued, "The FSB has had a fantastic year in supporting small businesses, which are the lifeblood of our economy and the FSB will continue to do all it can to provide our members with the best shelter to weather the downturn."
 
He also said, "We want the storm of recession to end and small businesses are the sector to see us through it.  We have already seen some measures to help small businesses through these difficult times but we need to see more: we need to see the banks lending again, suppliers paying up on time and burdensome regulation being delayed.  This year's conference could not be a better time for small businesses across the country to come together and fire up the British economy."

So hopefully, although we missed the Welsh scenery, we'll see some fast and impressive economic changes as a result of the small business get-together.
