Educate
The best thing a biz can do is to get educated and educate their people when it comes to social media. I've seen way too many screw up social media accounts by letting newbies take the helm because..
- The service is free so they tend to place lower paid staffers on the project.
- They tend to not see the threats until it's too late, most just delete and move on to something else.
- Too many share information without establishing a communcation path outside the social media therfore you never know who your really visiting with.
Social media is not for everyone / business .. it's abused mostly by people who just don't get it and that's when the right information falls into the wrong hands.
My 2 cents :)

No problem...yet
As a web site owner of safety and security products, I use Twitter, FaceBook and other social sites to socially market my web site and raise awareness for its products. So far I haven't had any security issues, however, I haven't delegated this responsibility to anyone so any problems that crop up would be my fault anyway. But, I have to say, security and content issues are just a couple of reason why I haven't given this task to anyone else to do for me. Thanks, Chris, for this interesting topic.
